Work With Me
20+ years of work on “can’t be done” digital and non-digital projects inspired the name and the logo of my consulting and executive education company.
‘Ishan’ is a Sanskrit word. Depending on context, it conveys each of the ideas in the tag line.
As Leading in the Digital World argues, creativity is essential today. It can engender many choices but assumptions executives unthinkingly make about digital technologies complicate picking a direction of movement that ethically accomplishes desired ends.
How We Can Work Together
Executive Education
Executive education class on Leadership in the Digital Era.
I run leadership, strategy development and execution, and technology strategy programs for mid-tier (VPs and Directors) to very senior executives (direct reports of the OCEO).
Some are modules in larger programs. More often, I interview top leaders and custom-develop courses. All programs are discussion-driven; some foster experiential leaning through simulations. Some programs are co-taught by other experienced faculty.
Keynotes
Address on Preparing Leaders for the Digital Age to top HR executives of foreign in Mumbai, Indian. Talk sponsored by People Matters.
I address issues at the intersection of leadership, digital technology, and strategy.
I customize my talks, making them interactive whenever possible, to my clients needs.
These decisions usually begin with a review of topics drawn from Leading in the Digital World (and The Spider’s Strategy).
Popular topics to consider:
Leadership in the Digital World. This talk, popular with senior leadership teams, addresses why and how a change in mindset is essential
What do Digital Technologies Really Do? Setting aside the ubiquitous, but erroneous, belief that they disrupt, opens leads to many more opportunities for innovation
First of All, Do No Harm. This talk, for senior leaders, builds on my Harvard Business Review article about the epidemic of self-inflicted crises occurring globally in the digital age.
Leading for Creativity. Pre-digital leaders led for productivity—doing more with less. The digital era confers far greater value for uncovering and addressing unpredictable needs.
Advisory
My advisory work adheres to three key beliefs:
Consensus
Implementation succeeds only when all stakeholders get a chance to debate and modify recommendations. I usually work only with executives who can assemble stakeholders for “action workshops.”
Objectivity
Empirical data is more important than opinion. I insist on collecting and analyzing required—often non-standard—data.
Creativity
Unconventional ideas overthrow mainstream practice. I don’t specialize in any industry or function; what is lost in efficiency is more than recouped in taking untrampled paths.
