About Amit Mukherjee

Amit co-founded Ishan Advisors, an executive education and strategy consulting company, in 2004. His book, The Spider’s Strategy, addresses the key drivers of effective competition in today’s business world; it was recently named “One of the 30 Best Business Books of 2009.”

Most recently, Amit was a Vice President and Strategy Advisor at Forrester Research, where he started and led a strategy consulting practice. Earlier, he was the Chief Technology & Strategy Officer of TurboChef Technologies, a NASDAQ-listed high-tech consumer durables company. At Arthur D. Little, he served on the leadership teams of two practices, having co-founded one. As an Assistant Professor at INSEAD, he taught in the Executive, MBA, and Ph.D. programs. He also co-authored two highly cited peer-reviewed papers on the strategic use of knowledge to compete. He started his career at American Express Bank, where he was a credit and lending officer.

Amit has taught general management, strategy and organizational development to senior executives from companies like FedEx, ConAgra, and Johnson & Johnson. He has also helped top executives – including CEO and Board members – of numerous companies in industries ranging from services to steel wire develop their strategies. His consulting clients include Dunkin’ Brands, SAP, Johnson & Johnson, Bloomberg, Sun Microsystems, and Gallo Wineries. His educational and consulting work is backed by strong operational experience; at Arthur D. Little and TurboChef, he led teams that created next-generation “can’t be done” products, and/or radically improved moribund operations.

Amit earned his Doctorate in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School, MBA from the Darden School of the University of Virginia, and Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) from BITS (India).
